One of the first things we did on our trip was to collect some Manzanita Berries for making beads with. The main purpose of the beads was for use on a Shakare', but since there were so many great looking berries around, we collected as much as we had baggies for! :)
In these pictures you can see up close what the berries look like, and the seeds inside. You can see some fresh looking ones that are really red. Those are good for making tea from. and some brown ones that came off the ground. Those are NOT for tea, but the nuts inside still make great beads. :)
Most of the berries were collected off the ground around the base of a very prolific trees. Farther down the trail however we found a BOON to our creative muse!
This tree and others around it were just FULL of the wonderfull berries!! So full we almost thought to not use the ground ones we had already collected.
